Alton Towers has not just been a very famous theme-park, it has a very long history behind the remarkable destination. Alton Towers is an 8th century fortress site with huge gardens and it was bought by the Talbot family however they had to sell all of the artwork in the towers to pay for legal battles between the earls but they could not manage this so in 1924 they had to sell the land, gardens, grounds and house to local businessmen. Before Alton Towers was a theme-park it was an army base but they was not kind to the towers and made the building into a wreck. The sea lions show was the largest attraction at one point in the front lawn and in 1970's it then became an interactive theme park with the dinosaur trail and the motorised boats. Then in 2007 is was bought by Merl in Entertainment and they still own the attraction to this day.
Most guests that visit Alton Towers now do not just want a day out and the majority come now for a short break which often leads to a holiday, they are re-positioning themselves to include families, thrill seekers, teen and day out trippers and also they have now included an education station.

Alton Towers rely on other companies such like coach companies to bring in customers to the attraction, so this means they are dependent on other companies because they can not work on their own. This is important to Alton Towers to have a partnership with the coach companies as they bring the customers to the attraction so they are helping Alton Towers to make more profit for the attraction.
